Ceramic Series made in Marruecos 2000

With the initiation of the new Millenium, Carlos Páez Vilaró, gratified himself by integrating his passion as ceramist with his everlasting love for Africa.
He molded his drawings and sketches in the clay of the continent that had marked his artist’s life.
He was able to fire pieces under the sun in Marruecos, from drawings that he had created under the sun in Punta Ballena. A
mixture between the blues of the Uruguayan sky and the turquoises., yellows and pinks of the sunset in the Sahara Desert.

Cement Amphores

Untitled-1.jpg (30462 bytes)

In 1968, Carlos Páez Vilaró created a series of fifty amphores modeled with the same cement that he was using in the construction of Casapueblo.
As his construction grew-up, he was tempted to add each year a new cement creature standing in front of the sea as restless guardians.
The works preserved in Casapueblo are exhibited in the terraces of the Museum. The rest ones belong to private collections
or are decorating "El Casfan" the workshop-farm that the artist owns in José Ignacio, Punta del Este, Uruguay.
